The Introduction aux ODD module introduces students to the Sustainable Development Goals. In this module, students learn about the history of the SDGs and their 17 goals, the issues represented in the SDGs and how they intersect, and the competing existing perspectives on the SDGs.
The essential questions that students will module in this unit are:
What are the SDG and what are they meant to help accomplish?
What key factors contribute to the issues represented in the SDG today and how did we get there?
What connections and links can be made between local and global issues using the SDG as we work towards sustainable change?
What perspectives about the SDG exist?
Students should be able to develop the following enduring understandings:
Our choices impact ourselves, our communities, and our world.
Everyone has the ability to make a difference to themselves, their community, and their place.
Equity/fairness requires each individual to be aware of his or her own needs and the needs of others and to change his or her behavior accordingly.
Understanding human and natural systems allows us to see a more complete picture and make better informed choices.
